Ship strikes, diseases and starvation are the causes.

Ship strikes have increased as whales are coming closer to land to find food (fish).
Fish stocks are dwindling due to humans overfishing.
The closer to land, the more ships there are.
There are also many more whales that there were 25 years ago.
In the season we see them from the shore daily.
