I remember Y2K which was a bust OR WAS IT.     i think often we are a test phase and then 10...15 years or more down the road someone puts the lessons learned to work.   Jerry Ford's swine flu comes to mind for strongly encouraging the american people to Get that jab...and the american people told Jerry to shove it. No, if anything, the Why-Too-'K was an unplanned demonstration - showing future pols, and a young Fow Chee, what the POWER of these mediuh simpletons is. I don't think they suspected it. We hadn't seen media muscle like that since Hearst's Yellow Press took the country into the Spanish-American War.

I don't believe anyone, not even mediuh masterminds, thought they had the power - until they saw the panic they created out of nothing, borne of a need to fill space in papers.

I'm developing a theory of our sociopathic political leaders and corporate CEOs. Back forty years, there was all kinds of mockery aimed at the Leadership Class of the time. This was the Age of Iconoclasm in American classrooms - high-school and university. History was rewritten to diminish Washington, Lincoln, Hoover (but NEVER Roosevelt) while puffing up and covering for Wilson, and civilian agitators like M. L. King, Rosa Parks, the Weathermen and the SDS. George McGovern, soundly trounced in the election of 1972, was beatified right after...in fact, that's when this revisionism started.

So. CEOs were all scum, bathing in money, ripping people off. "Planned Obsolescence" was a real Thing. Corporations wanted to kill their customers. Political leaders were all money-hungry crooks. Everywhere from Walter Cronkite's desk to the pages of MAD Magazine, we learned that.

Most of us learned a reflexive love for socialism and a distrust of private business and conservative politicians. But...what about the Preppie Class, the kids destined for Harvard and Yale and Princeton? THEY learned that, too. Meantime, Daddy-O taught them how MAKING A LOT OF MONEY was THE most important thing on EARTH.

They absorbed both lessons. Business leaders are scum; conservative pols are scum; and it's important to get INTO business, and later maybe into politics...and MAKE MONEY.

By stealing it, or by ripping off consumers, most likely.

I was there; I wasn't a preppie and didn't go to an Ivy League school, but my job at Chautauqua, for three years, gave me plenty of exposure to them. Now they're at the top of their game, just as I'm retired early with a bad back from hard work.

I know their morals. And how they were conditioned. They think, what Pfizer and our political docs did, is NORMAL and their DUE.

Y2K was the first thing to come to mind when I heard about this nonsense. It was retarded, and I couldn't believe the number of people falling for it. My mother worked for a major U.S. semi-conductor corp. at the time, and warned her uppers NOT to fall for it. Only those who listened knew the size of her bonus.
(I'll put it this way; She spent merely a part of it on a brand new Honda 750 w/a sidecar as a Christmas gift for her husband. 'Nuff said? )

I see zero difference in this latest scam. Except, perhaps, the gov't being more than happy to fulfill your prophesy for you.
