You do bring up a very good point here. It is not just masks that are a problem.
Any rubbish with a loop in it is a danger for wildlife.
A plastic bag with carry handles cut into into is the classic bad thing.

The loop gets caught around an animals neck and the animal cannot remove it.
It can kill the animal by a variety of ways.
Any looped materials I cut before discarding it.
Cable ties, some clothing has loops, some packaging can form a loop
