My exwife and I have a friendly relationship because of how the divorce went.

I still live on the same property as my ex, we have 13 acres close to Auckland city, which is rather convenient for both of us, But when we do sell up I could imagine never seeing her again after that point. I have a desire to leave Auckland , she wants to stay, i wouldn't be ably to buy a similar property in Auckland with what I will walk away with, around $800,000 NZD but that will go a long way in some quiet rural backwater

Has anyone here had marriage guidance counseling, The Doris and I tried it a few years back, It didnt end well, we had half a dozen sessions, most of those ended with the Doris in tears accusing me of manipulating the counselor , lol and the counselor at one point implied I had a personality that lent toward being sociopathic

So I pulled the plug on it lol

I don't think a marriage guidance counsellor should be implying anything about either personality. That's not their job and seems unprofessional.

It came about when the subject of me not giving a toss what people thought of me , she stated that everyone cared what peeps thought of them , when Sarah assured her that I didnt she said that was very unusual, and sarah added . "Yeah hes a sociopath" and she didnt disagree lol

Well I'm no marriage counsellor but you know sometimes relationships reach the point of no return and when that happens there's no turning back.

If we cared what everyone thought about us we'd go crazy. Save it for those you respect and/or aren't @holes lol

Councillors don’t speak once they get couples talking, the whole idea is getting couples communicating. All a councillor is is a referee if things start going south during a session, he is a guide no more than that.

Divorce...it’s a terrible thing to go through, for some it’s like carrying a knife in your back, you know it’s there every day, it hurts.
Letting go and getting on with your life, that’s what I did. After a while the shutters came down on all the grief, misery left me.

Realisation of it being over comes only when you let go, however long that takes.

For me it was 3 months. 3 months is a long time to get your head around things and think clearly what’s best for YOU, no one else.
