Question regarding a Horse... Empty Question regarding a Horse...

Post by RV Tue Jun 20, 2023 3:01 pm

I have a question for anyone who wants to answer. I was prompted by the Holy Spirit to do some biblical research regarding horses. I did some research in both my Strong's Concordance and Holy Bible. I could not find where Jesus ever rode a Horse but, He will ride a Horse when He returns after the tribulation at the battle of Armageddon. Anyone find any other reference where Jesus rode a Horse? I'd appreciate the chapter and verse so I can look it up and read it for myself rather than just taking someone's word for it.

Not surprised that no one answered the question nor had any thoughts on this subject.

Question regarding a Horse... Empty Re: Question regarding a Horse...

I went to parochial elementary schools. Bible study was part of the daily cirriculum and was exhaustive.

Jesus never rode a horse. I don't think horses could even survive naturally in Galilee. The Roman centurians had them, of course, but keeping them was probably a chore.

Just getting an ass (donkey) for Jesus to ride into Jerusalem was a project. Theft of a draft animal was a serious matter, and that was why the disciples were uncertain when Jesus told them to take that ass, and say "The Lord hath need of it."

It was to provide symbolism of his entry - mounted on an animal, reminiscent of a horse. Or perhaps to illustrate his low standing, relative to the mounted Romans and occasional rich man.

I don't remember that being discussed; and I have no inspiration on it.

But no...Jesus walked.

I would refer you to the book of Revelation Chapter 19 and verses 11 on.

There is a major difference in the mission of the Jesus the Savior who rode on a Donkey versus the Jesus King of Kings and Lord of Lords that rides on a horse.

Of course there's a difference between what HAD HAPPENED and what Revelations says WILL happen.

The Lutheran Church LCMS doesn't put a lot of stock in Revelations. I say that because it was one book of the Bible that was pretty-much ignored in my study. I remember the old (60ish) pastor talking it down - "My advice is, you shouldn't try to prove too much with Revelations."

Not saying he's right; just that that's one area my knowledge is lacking.

But what happens at the End Times, is not what DID happen, centuries ago.

I don't know of any reference that mentions Jesus riding a horse in the past. That doesn't mean it didn't happen, just that God didn't feel the need to mention it.
