That was wrong. But nelson and his wife willie were not 'good' people.

I know a man who ran one of the mines in SA.  He saw what he thought to be unfair treatment of the workers, so he developed a way to give them a break, higher wages, and other policies that he thought would be incentives.

Ha!  As a result, they refused to work!  They all walked away, and wouldn't come back to work.  Revolts broke out.  It was a mess.  

There was no figuring these people out.  The man I know brought back the old way of doing things, and the workers were happy campers.  
Go figure.

Andrew Carnegie had his lackeys - one of which was Napoleon Hill, later a self-help writer. Napoleon got some of the Carnegie fortune - for his work. Value-for-value.

THAT principle works. What does NOT work is "Seigniorage" - the receipt of newly-issued money by the Sovereign...by the government, in our system. Fiat money, with no backing value, in our modern system. Every dollar created by the Fed, to Quantatively Ease, sucks the value out of dollars in your and my savings.

That printed-up money winds up in Wall Street - the Fed prints it, member banks get it as Zero-Interest loans, and they buy for banks' house portfolios (forbidden by Glass-Steagall, now repealed). That drives securities' prices up. THAT increases the value of the securities already owned by others...typically rich investors.

The rich get richer. The money-changers get power. And both groups USE that power to get moar of the same.
