First Emergency Evacuation Ordered After Florida Tragedy, 10-Story Miami Condo Found to Have Major Structural Issues

A 10-story condominium in North Miami Beach, Florida, was shut down Friday over fears concerning the building’s safety.

Following the recent collapse of a condominium in the Miami suburb of Surfside, the city of North Miami Beach called for a review of all high-rise condos over five stories to determine compliance with the city’s recertification of buildings more than 40 years old.

North Miami Beach Buildings Department files showed Crestview Towers Condominium was not in compliance, according to WTVJ-TV.

When an inspector was sent to investigate the condo on Friday and city officials were, that same day, provided with a Jan. 11 recertification report by the building’s manager, they ordered the building to evacuate all residents.

The Miami Herald reported the emergency evacuation was the first ordered since the Surfside building’s collapse.

The report revealed the building was neither structurally nor electrically safe.

I wonder what's done to make whole the condo owners. Or banks holding mortgages.

If a structure that size is condemned, there's no cost-effective way to renovate it. It's going to have to be leveled.

They are scrambling to cover their asses aren't they.

I'm not a structural engineer, but what little I know about oceanfront building...makes me suspect of the foundations. I'd be suspect anywhere, but with Florida with its huge water deficit, pumping aquifers (underground rivers) dry, and sinkholes appearing, as they have for over 40 years...

....I'd have been real suspicious right from the first, of these buildings.

Well, I think we're in a Next Stage. First, the later-born Baby Boomers won't have the money to retire to Floriduh. I know I don't - unless I live on the beach like a bum. Second, those oldsters who are there, many of them have taken the faux-vaxx, like good little New Deal supporters. They will be shortly dead, and the government will get forty percent of each Democrat voter's estate.

Then...there's no place for a peaceful beachfront community when the whole nation is engaged in one giant race riot. We don't find places like this in South Africa.

No...this is the very-literal Third-World-izing of the nation.
