Selco Begovic is a real person.  A former Yugoslav from the former Yugoslavia.

He got caught up in the two-year civil war, in an urban area...having to try to live in an apartment house without heat, water or sewerage or food.

Obviously, I'm not perusing whatever sources CJ gets her news from, because I've seen and heard next to nothing about "Pride Month". I think they've really dialed a lot of it back this year, probably to prevent right-wing backlash leading up to the election.

Of course, you are going to have the usual parades in the usual areas and whatnot, but most of those participants are dysgenic trash that are not long for this world.
