Stove/Range Advice? Empty Stove/Range Advice?

Post by 2cent Sun Mar 12, 2023 7:49 pm

We've had a Maytag Gemini, double-oven with 3 different sized burners on a smooth top for 15 years. We never were very happy with it, and have decided to go shopping for new. One of the burners simply will NOT cool down, after having it on high; the small oven "cancel" button doesn't work, and we're just plain unhappy with it.

We have to have electric. I prefer smooth top. A double-oven is debatable. Cost isn't a main factor, but could affect a decision.

Any suggestions?

I'll second that. I used to work for GE and I got their appliances at a discount. They were still garbage.

I have an appliance guy and he has fixed problems for me that other techs couldn't with simple solutions. He say ge is poor quality chinese junk. Poor quality, inferior hard to get parts, not dependable. Buy whirlpool, frigidaire, maytag. In my ge profe double oven and ge profile refrigerator, you can't even change the bulbs yourself.

Thanks. But yeah, I know. What a shame, though, no? They used to be top of the line. Sold out to China, and now pffft. Not worth a wooden nickel.

Our local Sears just closed. Sad Nowhere else to go but Lowe's. Either them, or Home Cheapo, and I'd rather not.

Does LG make ranges?

I won't touch Amazon w/an 11 foot pole. I thought you knew that.  Bezos PAID for a number of the election irregularities in 2020.  As in, drop boxes, extended voting periods, and all that.  I thought you knew that, too.  You didn't?  Plus, when Amazon wanted to go 'union', Bezos refused to allow his employees 'secret ballots', all the while pulling all that nasty crap, when it came to the U.S. presidential election.

I wouldn't so much as buy a pair of socks from Amazon.

Besides, just out of curiosity, how would going to Amazon help me find the best range?

If we only had natural gas available where we live. Do you know, though, that Mr. 2 was ready, willing, and able to have a propane tank installed in the yard, if that's what I wanted? The only time I ever cooked w/propane, however, it turned the bottom of my pots black. He swears it had to have been a fluke, so maybe I'll think on this propane thing a bit. It's pricey, especially now. Hmm. Gosh. It's been so long since I've cooked w/gas, I wonder if I remember how. lol
