Magnitude 7.8 earthquake knocks down buildings in Turkey and Syria

A powerful earthquake has hit Gaziantep in south-eastern Turkey, near the border with Syria, killing at least 17 people.

The US Geological Survey said the 7.8 magnitude tremor struck at 04:17 local time (01:17 GMT) at a depth of 17.9km (11 miles) near the city of Gaziantep.

The quake was felt in the capital Ankara and other Turkish cities, and also across the wider region.

Many buildings have collapsed, and there are reports of people trapped.

Looks like the 2nd quake a few miles away at 7.5 was even worse.

read the articles. death toll for turkey alone will exceed 32,000 in the comming days. entire city blocks levelled. aftershocks keeping rescuers out of rubble. syria: kurds who did not get onignogs arms shipments, fanatical muslin nignogs who did get nignogs arms shipments, kurds who got pushed north, syrian army units with families. turkey: kurds who got nothing from onignogs arms shipments, kurds who did get onignogs arms shipments, turcomen, turks.
you will see 32,000 dead turks withing three weeks. as for the others, all depends if they were in highrises or not.

Death toll will be very high. Most folks were inside sleeping in the early morning hours.

2nd quake 7.7. no one will be recording isis deaths. turks wont be recording kurdish deaths. no rebar grouping verticle rebar. 1939 deathrate was 25%. this time highrises were way higher than three floors. looks like the majority sand ones dropped from this. whats the difference between betty&barney vs a turkish city? ( remember now, kurds did not help fleeing armenians )
