Dang, wish that were happening here. What market is that?
Lol. I can still see the address on the bottom of the back page.
Audubon Market.
I don't have much freezer space left.
Great episode of Andy Griffith about Aunt Bea and her freezer. Lol.

It happens when, out of nowhere, prices double.
Well, load up. It might be time to peruse the pawn shops, see if there's a secondhand freezer chest to be had...
No not really. I saw a tractor drop off a whole trailer of meat there today as i caught a red light right before the store and took the back way. They'll prolly get another one Wednesday.
Here's why I think they do it.
It's obvious they are going to lose money on many items and only break even on others.
But..... in the whosale grocery, co-op business, member stores all pay the same base rates for grocery, meat, frozen and dairy . No matter the size of the store.
The actual up charge percentage is based on periodic purchase( quarterly, annually, ie) and results in buying brackets. Each store has an upchgarge( what they actuyally pay) based on their selling, therefore, buying power.
The more they buy from the co-op, the less they pay.
With the covid farce and downturn in business, some of these stores may have been buying less. When the buying period is up, they may have to pay more or fall into a higher bracket.
If the periodic analysis of purchases reveals a shortfall for the period, or if the market would like to get into a lower paying bracket, they purchase a few hundred thousand dollars worth of meat, sell it quickly so it doesn't become a cash flow liability, thereby maintaining or improving their purchasing power.
The other part of it is, with the water situation in the Southwest, and also the jacked-up price of feed...a lot of ranchers are culling their herds MUCH deeper, even at a loss...the alternative is, widespread death, and unsaleable remains.
This is the bubble running through the system. There may be nothing on the other side of it...these Woked-up kooks are getting frantic.
So...I'd load up, if possible. Along with that freezer chest, make sure your generator is ready when the kooks turn off the power for a week.
