MLK newest statue

The newest MLK statue?   Have you seen it.  It is supposed to be a representation of how MLK hugged his wife when he received the Nobel Prize.  I saw tje original photo and i kept looking at looking at the art piece and i use the term loosely and it seemed..... odd and was something i could not put my finger on...and then...this writer NAILS IT.

It looks like a representation of THAT ACT THAT BUBBA CLINTON MADE SOCIALLY ACCEPTABLE...to be placed in a public venue....Boston Commons, to be unveiled monday MLK day. i think the artiste knew exactly what he was doing and it was a poke in the eye to us uneducated unappreciative dolts.

Remember that Christof guy that was wrapping buildings, islands,  etc in wrapping paper??  he's dead.  so we aren't subjected to that madness.   unfortunately this stuff proliferates at JMU and occassionally i notice it, stop, take a photo and laaaaaaugh.   Soon, if the WEF takes over, if you ridicule this stupid crap you may find yourself in a rehab camp.



Imagine what the sustainability people would say now about this incredible waste of fabric. It’s almost enough to make a whole pair of pants for Lizzo!

Richard Serra’s 1981 Tilted Arc was a 12-foot-tall, 120-foot-long, 15-ton steel slab in front of New York City’s Javitz Center. It bisected a giant plaza, thereby forcing overweight federal employees to walk all the way around it to get to work on time. Maybe it was originally intended as a government weight loss program.

It ended up causing such distress that the government tore it down in 1989. Serra sued the city claiming his free speech rights had been violated, and there was even a ludicrous trial.

Serra saw his work as “as a way to expose and criticize the surrounding public space, not to beautify it.” At least he was honest about his intentions. The New York Times art critic agreed with him, calling it “an awkward, bullying piece that may conceivably be the ugliest outdoor work of art in the city.”

Your visceral disgust, as Serra himself admits, is a feature of contemporary public art, not a bug.

i think what you must do is pretend you are deep with an inscrutable look on your face and the NYC art show dealers will go along with it..and if they do...the patrons most definitely will.
