Popeyes Runs Out of Chicken

Their chicken is scrawny and not juicy at all anyway. Anytime I went there, it was because of the beans and rice.

Good taste. But very small pieces and overpriced.
Plus, the workers at every last one suck.

I used to like the biscuits, but it's been so long since I've been to a Poop Eyes, I'm not sure if they are still the same.

We have a few local chicken shacks here that have really good chicken.

Their chicken USED to be good...very good. Pricey, but good.

But it's slowly been going downhill. I was first in a Popeye's in Houston, 1982, when living there. Someone recommended it. It was on the Buffalo Speedway, which is not a freeway, but (back then) a formerly nice neighborhood not far from several housing projects. I was driving a Yellow Cab, and my partner, who owned the cab (Yellow Houston did franchising, with drivers owning their cabs) said, you gotta try it.

I did. Chicken was wonderful. Service was what you'd expect in the ghetto. And what put me off, was the black girl at the cash stand, started to say "Thank you!"...realized she was talking to an ofay, and cut herself off.

Yeah, I noticed it. And I remembered it. She's probably old, toothless and drunk now...and she helped create someone who has NO use, NONE, for black hominids.

Anyway. Later in Cleveland, there were several. Chicken started getting iffy. Now, when I ate there, it was because I was working on a friend's house on the edge of the East Cleveland ghetto. He was white, but he was the last holdout. He couldn't drive a nail, but he was good with carrying stuff, so I'd do some handyman stuff, and he'd be my gofer, on his own home. And we'd get beered up and eat at Popeyes.

Then, my whirlwind journey, to California, Denver, and then back to Cleveland as a railroader.

Popeyes wasn't on my horizon much, in the traveling years after CSX; but when I found one, I'd get it. Ohio Turnpike has them in their service plazas. You find them in other odd places, too...and three years after I moved here, one opens up in this white-bread town.

I thought, they're finally going mainstream.

Nope...no way. They are STILL incompetently managed. Even when the manager's white, as this one's manager is...STILL they're completely fumble-pfukked. I kid you not...how can they make customers wait fifteen minutes or more for chicken? Saturday lunch hour; and the lobby was full.

This was before Beer Cooties. Beer Cooties had them closed RIGHT up. All the other fast-food dives were open, but not Popeye's.

Now they're open but ONLY the drive-through. They say they're short-handed. What, they can't train help to be incompetent enough? Can't find enough dwarf chicken here in Montana?

I'm done with them. I loved their chicken, but not no more.
