Keep it simple for me , what is it you are saying here,?
""so using the highest threadcount cloth available, folded up twelve times, and pouring your used motor oil through it like youd use a filter to screen out these impurities ; viscosity index improvers, detergents, dispersants, corrosion inhibitors, alkaline additives, zinc dialkyldithiophphosphate, oil ash, sulfur, calcium sulfonate, molybdenum disulfide, metal shavings and teflon, wouldnt any oil with a higher rating of an API of 12 ( fuel oil ) increase the btu rating and not harm your oil furnace?""

If you get too involved in the tech, peoples eyes start to glaze over, , Hook them in with some basics ,then move on to the tech

my Grand Father when he first bought his house, dumped all his engine oil into his heating oil tank, after he screened it for metal shavings. after 15 some odd years, he drove a " pipe " into the ground because it took too much effort to screen for the VIIs. on the plus side, his tomatos took off like banshies.

So it was the waste residue from his burner going into the ground ?

no. the side benefit of his dumping his egine oil into the aquafier was a healthier garden.vege57 wrote:jirqoadai wrote:my Grand Father when he first bought his house, dumped all his engine oil into his heating oil tank, after he screened it for metal shavings. after 15 some odd years, he drove a " pipe " into the ground because it took too much effort to screen for the VIIs. on the plus side, his tomatos took off like banshies.

At ten feet he wont get into the aquafier , and I'm not sure that pouring oil on you garden would do it a lot of good, but if you were putting the biochar from your burner into your soil there could be some benefit for it

Re: Experts Predict a Gas Shortage Will Hit the US This Summer
the very last time i played with it i " unplugged it " and oil poured out the top until i re-plugged it with the rag. i suppose had i wanted to i couldve called a small tanker truck and had them pump the oil and water out of it. maybe i couldve reduced it from 2" to 1/4" and run it to a Tiki god and burned the gas off like they do in the movies.vege57 wrote:jirqoadai wrote:no. the side benefit of his dumping his egine oil into the aquafier was a healthier garden.vege57 wrote:jirqoadai wrote:my Grand Father when he first bought his house, dumped all his engine oil into his heating oil tank, after he screened it for metal shavings. after 15 some odd years, he drove a " pipe " into the ground because it took too much effort to screen for the VIIs. on the plus side, his tomatos took off like banshies.

BigJ, I'm trying to understand what you are saying here,
You father has a pipe in the ground that he pours waste oil into and it improves the productivity of his vege garden ?
