vege. even though almost all were implosions, as these gas pipe one were too, the DE and corvet personel always swore they all heard and felt gigantic explosions whenever they happened.

There wouldnt be any oxygen to ignite the gas, the gas even under pressure would be less dense than the surrounding water, I assume the pipe was in a couple of hundred meters of water ?
