We have no legal obligation to vote in NZ, you just need to be on the electoral roll , And the roll gives no indication of you voting preference

I saw the video of NZ-ers beat by cops for protesting this past year.

It's not semantics, and you are dead wrong.  Five U.S. presidents have won the popular vote, but did not win the electoral college, and, therefore, did not serve as president; their opponents did.  

It is not unreasonable to think you dislike the system of democratic voting in the country you are in.
That you might prefer a differing system of democracy.

It's still a democracy.

The United States has mass shootings and other violence because the Democrats want to force people to accept their way. What amazes me is that Hitler and his SS Troops did the exact same things and just like Germany during WWII, the U.S. goes right along with the nonsense today.
