Even in black and white.

I still rather watch Bonanza though. It had a very long run too.
Bonanza dealt with many of the social issues of its time(60s) set in the pioneer days of the Nevada territory.

Star Trek: Original Series, also dealt with many social issues of the 60s set in the realm of futuristic, space.

The Final Frontier

Like Ellen DeGeneres, boldly going where no man has gone before.

All four senior officers to appear on the original 1966 Star Trek TV series appeared in separate episodes of Gunsmoke throughout its run. William Shatner (Captain Kirk) was in a season 12 episode; DeForest Kelley (Dr. Mccoy) in a season one episode; James Doohan (Scotty) in a season eight episode; and Leonard Nimoy (Spock) appeared in four episodes

Spock was an injun.

Spock was sneaky. He covered his ears with hair and a hat.

It was the logical thing to do.

Hard to believe, (but neat), that Burt Reynold became such a YUGE star, eh?

Only "Man with No Name" ones, and "Will Penny", "True Grit" and "The Appaloosa".

(Wasn't there a different doc in the early b&w's?  And there is a different opening in the earlier series.  Starts out w/Matt Dillon walking through "_____ Hill."  It's a graveyard.)

You're probably thinking of "Ben Casey" or "Dr Kildare".

Ugh ... no she wasn't. Also, she was Matt Dillon's whore. What kind of message did that send?

Here's what I think. (Thanks for asking.) I think Bonanza and Gunsmoke got better over time, owing to their attention to detail -- in costumes and in set design. They got to where they appeared more authentic. For that reason, they both went our with a Bang! IMHO.

Spock was an injun? No, I don't believe Spock was Native American. Possibly a starving Armenian, but not Amer-Indian.

Fascinating Facts About 'Gunsmoke' - Page 2 Gunsmoke_StarTrek

Spock was a scrawny 89 pound weirdo who wouldn't have made a meal for a starving Chihuahua. So they gave him these super-powers to beef up his image and make him more scay-wee ... and a lot weirder.

That show never connected with me, and I mostly ignored him. Shatner too.

The women, see, were the real attraction of that show anyway. They were hot.

I should have said Spock 'played' an Indian. I meant he was an Indian in the show not a real American Indian, not that I'm an expert but he just doesn't cut it.

I watched Gunsmoke a few times as a kid but was never really a devotee.

On Shatner, I love love loved him (and James Spader) in Boston Legal which was one of my favorite shows at one time.

Don't forget about TJ Hooker.
