Look into using a proxy server. Cheap for what you get, and what you get is a a layer of protection against tracking and hacking.

I have used a Mozilla-based quasi-proxy server called "Tor", which routes your internet travels over a global network of computers that act as servers. Very difficult to track you, and the best part is that it's free -- or was the last time I used it. Kinda slow, however, but you can't have everything. It might be "best of breed" for security as it is about as anonymous as I can imagine.

If they can't find you, they can't easily hack you.

Brave is my browser; and Smartpage, my searcher.  I found DDG lame.  SP is so-so, but anything keeps me away from the "G" family is good for me.

I don't know why I fear switching to Linux.  BUT!  The article gave me an idea.  I've this dinosaur of a desk top sitting in the utility room doing nothing.  Maybe I can hook up to Linux via that, then, once I get used to it, download it on my laptop.

It's stunning how many self-proclaimed "Conservatives" and/or "Republicans," (not that the latter means much anymore), use Netflix, G, Faceflap, Twitnit, and gmail, w/o batting an eye.  Even when you tell them who and what they're contributing to, they never fail to have a handy excuse as to what makes them so speeshul.

I try to avoid YouTube, but will click on a link, if someone posts something of particular interest to me.  I will not click on any link to CNN, and it baffles me why anyone would choose to use them as a source.

I have the darnedest time remembering the alternatives to YouTube.

Thanks much for the OP. :thumbsup2:  Been meaning to respond since it was posted.
