I'm a caulk maniac. I have many caulk guns and use different types of caulk. Been doing this for years I don't DO my own drywalling. I have snl or husband do that. But i am a finisher. I do take the time to sand and prep and get it right. Thought you might enjoy this video. I did.

Good video... but not complete pro advice.

No need to use 2 hands to use the gun.

No need to continually position the tube.

One time per tube...
Position the beveled tip in the gun...
wrap tape around the tube/gun to maintain that position...

Ta Daaaaa.....  one handed caulking...
keep damp rag in the other hand to keep the tip clean....

With practice, it makes quick, precise, and clean work.

Have Fun !!   :)

Smooth Caulking takes a little practice. And a decent caulk gun!
Not the shit they try to sell you today.

I ran a lot of caulk, vulcem, and silicone in the glass business.

But stuff like urethane windshield adhesive require a very low geared gun because it's very thick. Battery operated, electric caulk guns are preferred because urethane needs to be run in a clean windshield weld in a speedy fashion because it forms a surface "skin" very fast.

I'm here almost daily for a few minutes at least...

By the time I read something, whatever I might add has been said.

-shrug-

Actually, this has become my favorite forum.... Guess I should stop by a light a fire about something once in a while. :)

Another little tip is sealing off the chalk tube when your done . Don't use a nail or screw cause you always screw in the opening . Try an electrical cap to store that caulk .Caulking...there's a right way R_121

i know the cap trick and that is very helpful. A couple years ago i was shopping at Rocking R hardware and they were giving away these little fittings for the end of a caulk gun. I like those too and they're charging for those now. I have loads of the caps you suggest and they work just as well if not better. Got any other uses for those?
