Ridin' The Dog - Going Greyhound, back 35 years ago, when America was America
Someone had given me a link to this video...it was apparently on network television back in the day, and then was hosted online, and then taken down, for some reason. An Ewww Toob user was traveling in Europe and was surprised to find it up - he managed to capture it. It's poor quality but you can follow it.
Because Ewww Toob pulls down videos that have any copyrighted music, even if the owners of the copyright allowed that music in whatever video production was in there...anytime there was identifiable music, the sound feed was switched out. Unfortunate because known popular music was used as themes for various segues on this video.
Some may find it boring. I found it interesting - both in that it jogged my memory of what life was like when Reagan was in charge and I was young; and because I'd never taken a long trip on a Greyhound. Once (up to that point) on Amtrak, but never Greyhound. I did cross the country that same summer (1989) but I didn't go by 'Hound - I went by (I'm serious) Yugo.
Saw much the same. In the video at one point you'll see a sign, Lucky 9 Motel. A ripoff on Super 8. That's in Spokane and I had stayed there.
The video along the river, was the Clark Fork, right here. But the roads were so different, and Missoula hadn't been gentrified. Yet the people obviously were - Western courtesies that are now deader than Elvis.

In early 1979, I took a Greyhound trip from Miami to Denver. Three days. Dreadful. Or, would've been completely so, if it weren't for the really cute guy who decided to latch on, and be my benefactor of sorts. A nice reprieve from the boredom. A shame the bus depots were invariably located in the worst possible sections of cities and towns. Not too smart to wander far at all.

I'm sure Mr 2 is praising the location of bus stations.

I've ridden Greyhound many times. Last time was San Francisco to Los Angeles. I had to get out of town like really fast.
