Today, on he evening news on the Gold Coast we were brainwashed by the following
announcement:
During a three year period commencing in 2017, at Southport Court, 10400
applications were filed for domestic violence protection orders...
For those unskilled in maths....
Thats nearly 3500 applications per year...
Bullshit
Thats nearly 300 per month
Bullshit
Thats about 75 per week...every week for 156 weeks....
Bullshit...
Thats 15 applications each and every WEEKDAY for THREE YEARS...
Bullshit...
This is in ONE court which covers the entire Gold Coast.....
This data is supposedly straight from the horses mouth (via a politicians announcement)
This is supposed to convince the sheep that the entire Gold Coast is rife with domestic
violence being perpetrated by vicious, drunken, abusive men against timid, harmless, vulnerable
women.

What a crying shame it is that so-called "reporters" will do their darnedest to cause pain for as many people as they possibly can. And they do it with a gleam in their eye.
We need to find a way to overcome their nastiness, while, at the same time, letting them know how ineffective they are. Rallies; Sunday theme picnics - including speakers, and/or bands that got nothin' in mind but bringing folks together for a swell time.

I dunno. Just a bunch of uplifting stuff where the attendees don't mind turning a cold shoulder towards the naysayers or interrupters.

A few facts and figures to add to the OP...
In Qld, Police respond to DV callouts in pairs...(all patrols are in pairs)
Each Constable interviews each combatant (four interviews if two
persons are dookin it out...)
Police then go to one side and report all data to "superior staff"
(Bear in mind that the definition of DV in Qld is extremely wide
and encompasses numerous circumstances even such as two
neighbours bluing....)...therefore almost every callout results
in DVPO's....
Police are given four hours to do their paperwork for each DV case...
Many can do it in 90 minutes but stretch it out to four hours...
(I wonder why)...
Applications for DV Protection Orders are lodged on line...
If there are two, maybe three protagonists in one report, then two or three
orders can be sought.
If this is the case then over 10,000 applications in three years
could be possible.....although Id imagine 1 on 1 cases would
probably be very prevalent...
This was not reported by the media...
It was sensationalized journalism at its worst....
Apparently the Gold Coast is the third worst area in Qld
for domestic violence outside Mount Isa and Townsville....
AND we all know who lives up there....dont we....
From what I can gather, almost every petty kitchen argument
can be construed as domestic violence within the definitions
the Police have been given by the hierarchy....
I doubt if there is as much domestic violence as the authorities
and the media make out...
BUT then again...we have to protect the fairer sex dont we...
