It's an immune reaction to eating gluten and you have to stop stop stop eating gluten. Vege is probably more knowledgeable with it as it's his son who suffers from it.

Thank you! I'll be sure to pass this info on to my daughter. Oh, what she - and her poor kid - have gone through trying to figure out the screaming ache in his belly. Did narrow it down to an allergy to gluten, (has helped immeasurably!), but who knows? An endoscopy could be of yet better knowledge/help.

The immune system sees the protein "gluten" as an invading organism and a attacks it damaging the stomach lining in the process, which then prevents it from absorbing the necessary nutrients,

There is a blood test that can be done , that picks up antibodies produced, I'm not sure how accurate it is , more likely to give a false negative than a false positive

The severe stomach pain was what alerted us to Harry's problem, same time every night around 3-4 hours after his evening meal, We had him in hospital a couple of times, Sarah did a little research and we asked them to check for celiacs, they were resistant at fisrt but after coming up with no diagnosis they did a blood test which showed up a weak positive and he was booked in for his biopsy, which was conclusive
