They can't swallow it. Can't pull it off the hook. It's like a Brillo pad.

Can bait 300 hooks with one dread cut I to 1/4 inch pieces. Hardly ever lose one after the catch.

one of my freinds in second grade had an uncle living near him that would take my catch of eels so he could smoke them. id simply cheese ball a hook, plop it in, and an eel ball would promptly circle it, all fighting eachother for it. i would yank the hook very quickly and usualy snag one in its side with it. id get 7 or 8, put them in a plastc paint bucket with a lid, with water, and after i got enough, pour about half out, then lug that with my rod to his house. in 1969, $8.00 was alot of money to be had for screwing around down by the creek.
