otoh, some of those old religions and cults included human sacrifices, usually of captured enemies, and involved some lengthy torture sessions before the final stroke.

got a perfect solution. tie their hands behind a tree theyre sitting agin. then gag the crap out of their mouths. lettem pray to their trees for salvation.

Christainity has pared away spirituality, leaving an largely empty, ambiguous pit that nevertheless gets filled with something.

It was once a much more spiritual in practice. This is just wrong, in my view, and the religion is paying the price.

The Pope should correct this.

we never prayed to a tree. we spoke to gramma willow, yes, but that wasnt like some sun god. and we didnt cry to her either. getting upset or trying to convey that you are while conjuring up your spirits is akin to getting drunk and thinking youve seen God.

Whites and other politically bent people -- like chicoms -- don't like prayer to the deceased, especially relatives (ancestor worship) because it can be hard to control. It's why the ghost dance was outlawed.

One time in the early 80s, I went out drinking from the camp.
Some girl decided she wanted to come with me at 4 in the morning. I explained there were a whole bunch of men back in the woods. Said it was ok.  "When they go hunting, we'll go to bed and lock the door".

The alcohol in me said, ok. Lol.

When we got there about 5 am we were still drinking whiskey.
They were waking up to go hunting.

Pretty sure I was inebriated.  I danced on the table in my drawers.

Looked like they had seen a ghost!

They tried to have me kicked out but it was private property.

Plus the President of the club had danced Buck Naked on the table at his camp the night before. Lol.
I was there. I may have caught the notion from that.
