It's very saddening to read.
The world often looks to the US for leadership.
As in eastern europe countries that also had a strong 'conspiracy' theorists and a low take up of the vaccines, the death toll has been bad.

masks help, physical distancing helps, hand washing helps, vaccines help.
these are normal health measures.
