Hawk Digging more Holes in the Yard
Gunna plant watermelons here. The dirt clumps will go back into the hole just as you see them. Inverted. The bottom is the top with the grass. I'll chop it up as best I can but it's clay soil and still very wet from the storm day before yesterday. I'll have to go dig a few buckets of Sandy soil to top the hills and plant the seeds in. More pics later.

Right. Very little. That's a st. Augustine grass lawn. Grass never gets more than 3 or 4 inches high. Plus it makes for clean melons. I just finished. I'm pooped. Been fertilizing tomatoes and tieing them this morning long before I started this project. Still have 6 wonderbells to plant but not today.Calypso Jones wrote:hmmm. Yesterday and today were the best I felt in a months with no back pain and very little knee pain. Not the case now.
I feel like going lay on the carpet in the sun with the cat. Lol.
That 3 oz Jim Beam just hit the Yeti Tumbler. Gunna go sit in my iron rocking chair for a while.

Re: Hawk Digging more Holes in the Yard
25 hills about 3 feet apart. Package said 18-36 inches. I thought that was rather close. Also said plant three seeds and cull down to the best single plant.
I never planted melons like that. I planted 4 seeds to the hill and I'm not culling any.
We used to disk everything and plant the seeds on a raised row in hills about 10 feet apart. Vines were everywhere! Lol
But I decided to try the 3 feet thing. For insurance......Lol.
That's 25 hills of melons!
