Fly Like an Eagle

Life can be so very cruel,
One day you're born,
Next you walk,
Then go to school
You learn what a friend is,
You begin to see there is a universe,
Of people of things
All much bigger than me,
You typically fall in love,
Your wedding is hosted
By wings of a dove,
Things begin to change,
People move away ,
Some to other places ,
Others to heaven in reserved spaces,
The pain and heartbreak
Never go away ,
There is plenty of sorrow ,
For every tomorrow,
Plenty of heartbreak,
For every day,
On wings of Angels,
Someday we all
Fly away.

Stardust....(about chains that may bind you )

Waking up in the middle of the night,
Sweating but not sure,
Whether to flee or fight,
I laid wakened,
In my darkened bedroom,
Still not sure if its day or night,
I felt peace,
But not at ease,
Had I been running?
Was that my sweat ,
Or was I in a field of flowers,
Among them as one ,
Sunning,
As my concious mind returned,
I smiled while inside I churned,
Was I in chains ,
Was I in hell,
Had I died and not very well,
Why was I scared,
I felt a need to be free,
A need to run behind a tree,
Who was it invading my mind,
Why was I scared,
Though the voice seemed
Familier and kind,
Where did that person go?
Where did that person come from,
I dozed off once more and slept,
Then woke myself with my scream,
It wasnt a a dream you see,
The person I begged
To " let me go free",
Was me....

The Reign (death )

As I reached up
I touched a rainbow,
Thru the beauty
All turned sudden black,
Something frightening ,
A bolt of lightening?
Or a knife across my back,
Why am I in chains ?
How did I reach the rainbow?
Then the answer
Came from above
A message by white turtle dove ,
It was " welcome home my child"
Seemed odd,
Then I realized I was
No longer in chains,
I was in heaven ,
Reading this note,
It was signed,
"God"

Cocoon (insight )

Take away from me,
My eyes if cant see,
Take away from me ,
My legs ,
If I cant run,
Take away from me ,
My mind ,
If its not me,
Take away my words,
If I dont speak,
Take away from me ,
My heart,
Release it gently
Into the sky,
The wings of a butterfly,
You may see,
If so,
The butterfly,
Is me....

I wanted to post some poems I wrote over the past couple of years. To inspire me and set a tone.

5 of these were written " on the fly". That means in one take usually 8-10 minutes to write

I often write to a metronome. It works because I write to a steady beat the first or maybe second thoughts in my mind or I convey what I seeing in my minds eye as I write.

I hope you find them sufficient.
I also hope you add your own .

Mushrooms

Overnight, very
Whitely, discreetly
Very quietly

Our toes, our noses
Take hold on the loam
Acquire the air

Nobody sees us
Stops us, betrays us
The small grains make room

Soft fists insist on
Heaving the needles
The leafy bedding

Even the paving
Our hammers, our rams
Earless and eyeless

Perfectly voiceless
Widen the crannies
Shoulder through holes. We

Diet on water
On crumbs of shadow
Bland-mannered, asking

Little or nothing
So many of us!
So many of us!

We are shelves, we are
Tables, we are meek
We are edible

Nudgers and shovers
In spite of ourselves
Our kind multiplies

We shall by morning
Inherit the earth
Our foot's in the door
