Hey Hawk , Im lookin at catching some crawfish "Koura"" this weekend from a local stream and didnt want to get too fancy with my trap , do you think a large soft drink bottle with the tapered end cut off and reversed pushed back into the bottle like a minnow trap would do the business ?

I'll take a pic of a "pillow" trap when I get outside and post it.

@vege57
Here is a 36" (3 foot) tall, pillow trap. I make all my own.
It's 3/4" pvc coated, hex wire.
Barrel size is 50" minus 2" for overlap to sew together. 48" total.
Bottom corners are snipped and pushed in with a coke bottle to form flues and entrance holes.
48 inch tall (4 foot) is standard fair for most traps. But I do have some 5 footers for when the water goes bad or they just load up over 15 pounds per trap. Flue holes need to be slightly larger than one inch for the larger crawfish to enter.
If crawfish are running small, hole size can be closed in a bit.

It's hard to get a good pic without a solid back drop.
Traps are fished totally submerged on about the angle I have leaning here. Unless the water is bad. Then a portion must stick out or the crawfish will die.
Notice the old , treated, string tied to the middle of the top of the trap.
Traps are tied to trees, limbs, or bushes with an appropriate amount of string and a little extra just in case the water rises a lot. Then the trap is lowered to the bottom and slacked with the appropriate angle facing down current before being tied off and flagged.

Gotta put some bait in there and make sure it sinks to the bottom of the trap between the flues.
Usually a combination of various fish, fish parts, and artificial dry bait made from grain by- products.

Here's how it's done.
He's got it made fishing that road he is on. Easy going.
If he got off in the thick stuff, has catch more. But its rough on a motor and you too. Lol. @vege57
