California Bill Would Give Cats and Dogs MORE Rights Than Unborn Human Babies

The Golden State could become the first in the nation to give pets civil rights.

California Assemblyman Miguel Santiago introduced the “Dog and Cat Bill of Rights.”

Mr. Santiago is a Democrat and he’s also a pet owner – two dogs. And he wants to give pets the same legal rights and protections that humans have.

“As an owner of two dogs myself, I am proud to author the Dog and Cat Bill of Rights to help our furry friends live happier, healthier lives,” the lawmaker said in a statement. “Our dogs and cats deserve to be loved, and cared for, and the Dog and Cat Bill of Rights will help inform potential adopters of the care needed to create a healthy environment for their adopted pets.”

His legislation would give Fluffy and Spot freedom from neglect and abuse, the right to healthcare, the right to be spayed or neutered and have access to nutritious food.

Mr. Santiago says dogs and cats are sentient beings with complex feelings and they deserve to be treated as such.

“Those rights go beyond just food, water, and shelter. As stated in the bill, dogs and cats have the right to be respected as sentient beings that experience complex feelings that are common among living animals while being unique to each individual,” Mancuso said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to be codifying this into law.”

Should his bill become law – cats and dogs would have more constitutionally protected rights than unborn babies.

And once puppies get civil liberties it won’t be long before hamsters, rabbits and lizards demand equal rights, too.

And then right to vote will be just around the corner.

Just silly. To have civil rights, animals would first have to be civil, like blacks.

Can a cat burn down a CVS or ransack a Macy's?  Heck no! Can a dog steal a BMW off a new car lot or mug peeps at bus stops?

Of course not. The idea is perposterous. Furthermore, no white babies should have any civil rights until they stop crapping their diapers.
