The Democrat plan to close the prisons and why.

There is a reason why democrats want to close prisons. Their steps are one, end the death penalty. Two end life in prison. Three close the prisons.
But why?
Because they want to release the killers like the Green River Killer.

Though I entirely agree with closing jails you have to provide some alternative to them.

Jails are very expensive to run, prisoners often come out worse than when they went it.
Jails are more about a punitive retribution and helping someone change their ways and become a contributing member of society.
In some cases, people warrant being removed from society to protect society.
We will pay for that.

Many countries have an alternative to prison. Singapore deals with petty crimes by caning or whipping. The middle east removes the hands of thieves. Both are reasonable alternatives to prisons where there is no opportunity to reflect on wrongdoing. Flay someone's back to the bone, they will certainly consider alternatives. In Brazil, off duty police hunt feral children and shoot them like hunting packs of rabid animals. Self defense laws need to be strengthened. Every law ab8ding citizen should be armed, trained and mentally prepared to end a threat permanently. Business districts should be allowed and encouraged to maintain a private security force, well armed and trained in Blackwater type tactics.

You make some good comments there.
I guess we do have many 'avenues' before jail. There are youth deterrent schemes etc that try to help people.
Ah - that's my impetus, maybe if we help them more, it would be better for society
Some people will not respond to help, so jail for them.

One of the issues that perplexes me in this whole crime thing/murder rate etc. Why wouldn't someone go to the Police IMMEDIATELY when they have witnessed or know about someone who has committed a murder? In almost every case, everyone says how "terrible" it is but, the people who could crack the case and/or identify the perpetrator rarely go to the Police until the Police go to them, why is that? And even then, they at first try to lie or cover up the truth before actually telling what they know.

It seems to me if one REALLY thought it was "terrible" that they would IMMEDIATELY TRUTHFULLY tell everything they know in order to solve the case and bring the criminals to justice.
