Christian student cites Bible in private discussion, gets suspended Lawsuit charges school officials violated his constitutional rights
A Christian student accused by school officials of "laughing" at off-color jokes told by other students, and later sharing his Christian beliefs in a private conversation, was suspended for three days, and now is suing for that punishment.
The Great Lakes Justice Center is representing student David Stout in the case in federal court in the Western District of Michigan.
"My client's religious speech and beliefs should be treated with tolerance and respect," explained David A. Kallman, senior legal counsel with the center. "Public schools may not violate the Constitution and enforce a heckler's veto of student speech. Nothing David did caused any disruption or problem at the school. He has the right to express his opinion in accordance with his sincerely held religious beliefs, without vilification or punishment from the government for holding to those beliefs. Great Lakes Justice Center will defend our client’s freedoms to the fullest extent of the law."
The center explained the three-day suspension was imposed on Stout "for stating his Christian beliefs in a private text conversation and in a hallway at school."

His freedoms of free speech and religious expression were violated. He has every right not only to share his faith but, to sue them for violating his rights.
It would seem that the Democrats willfully violate rights in hopes that people either do not have the resources or will to stand up to them. Unless more lawsuits are filed and more people stand up, violations will be the norm. Enough violations without lawsuits and Constitutional rights cease to exist.

.............. The school also punished him for not policing and reporting other student’s inappropriate jokes. The Defendants’ further instructed David that he must stop posting his religious comments on all his social media platforms. He was also disciplined because of some offensive behavior by others, in which he did not participate and was not aware of, at a football game last October. ............
There will be a bit more behind this than what is released.
We are only hearing 1 side of the story here.

""He has every right not only to share his faith ""
What does sharing your faith look like , There must be point that you go from expressing your faith, to shoving it down others throats and being critical of their lack of it, at which point you are infringing on their rights ?
And Im not implying that is the case here

"What does sharing your faith look like?" It looks like personally letting one or more people know what the Lord has done in your life. This was a PRIVATE Conversation, not any of the school's business. It's also about letting one or more people know why you believe, what scripture passages brought you to salvation, what your personal testimony is, letting one or more people know that one is not "perfect" just because they have accepted Christ.
You know it's funny, tell someone of a sale at a certain place or how to save a buck and they'll claim that you're just being a good friend. Tell someone about salvation in eternity and you'll suddenly get accused of all sorts of things.
"There must be point that you go from expressing your faith, to shoving it down others throat" First of all, I'm not sure how one could "shove their faith down another person's throat" but, if it were possible, it would most likely involve kidnapping or some other illegal activity. A real Christian would never force someone.
As far as "being critical", those who aren't Christians and have never been in a church will claim that ANY biblical truth is "being critical".

In other words, regardless of how the question was answered, you'd make the claim that it wasn't an answer but, a rant.

I feel you were more interested in promoting your beliefs than answering my question , But that's fine RV, I have no problem with you expressing your faith
