Unfortunately, CJ's assessment is more accurate than it is false. The good ones are outnumbered by the lock and step group.
That's why we, as patients, need to correct our view of them. They are consultants. It is YOU that needs to utilize your critical thinking skills, leave your feelings and emotions out of it, and own the authority to make the best choice for you. Stop letting them make them for you.

YOU are SO right.
I knew when they were foisting that HIPAA on us that it was not to protect the patient. It is to protect doctors/nurses/government.

get a WVA p o box. then a WVA drivers lc. youll save on auto ins, plus then theyll give you better healthcare. at one time i had 1 MD and 3 WVA at the same time. if theyre still doing that, get more. then open different bank accounts under each one. see how far you can go. do the auto drips in a few. i did in the BOA once that way. told them to close the account. they refused. the drips went through while i only had about $3.50 in the bank. it was well over $450 i got out of that one. never gave them a dime and the stock was mine.

less and less so. You should look into what sentara has done to the area medical care. People do not trust that hospital. They're incompetent and lazy. THe nursing homes that rehab patients are sent to in the city are nothing but filthy warehouses. If i sound somewhat angry i am after what i went through in January.
Have you posted that experience previously where I can read it? I'm interested in what went on there. I can take a pretty good educated guess, though.

I don't know that i have posted that here other than in passing but i'll do it here. I was ill the entire month of january..as well as The Captain, my husband. It just kept hanging on and hanging on. (I had had Covid in December 2019 with the standard symptoms. About 2 weeks of just not feeling well and then it was over. NO lasting side effects as some in the medical field claim.) On the advice of a nurse friend, knowing i was ill, she recommended going into local urgent care and getting the test so that if i did have to go to hospital, i could be admitted quickly without another test. HA! We did that on the 11th of january. Captain was positive, I was negative. STILL ILL.
Little did i know that it was not covid bothering me but rather a dead gall bladder. I had no warnings that i was aware of other than heart burn which a gastroenterologist told me was ulcers plus 2 endoscopies and my doctor kept giving me prilosec, ranitidine (which i will never take again) etc etc ignoring higher liver levels through blood work. But enough about those two.
SERIOUS pain on evening of Jan 17. I'd been praying a lot and told The Captain that i did not want to go into hospital with covid because i thought they'd kill me.
Called Rescue squad they did an ekg and my heart was fine. Said they recommended taking me to local sentara. I said, No, i would rather go to Augusta. So my daughter drove me there because the Captain was still under quaranine for his positive done on 11Jan.
NOW i'm really in pain and they take me in almost immediately and thankfully, (thank you God) there were only 2 people in the ER...me and another woman sitting in waiting area.
Doctor comes in asks a couple questions..pushes on my right side high and ...yeah...that hurt. Daughter waiting in car. Ultrasound on liver and gallbladder. Doctor says he is going to admit me. Thankfully. Then comes nurse doing 2 covid tests. DANG. Then once that was done off to hospital side. I"m still in jeans and sweater. And i remain that way, sedated with delaudid which took pain from a 10 to a 3. I could sleep but it was still painful. Surgery scheduled for 11am...but i didn't get in till 4pm. Good surgeon, pretty good attendants getting me to surgery and then in surgery. 2 hour surgery. I'm back in room by 6pm. STill getting dilaudid every few hours plus antibiotics etc in the IV. After a day or so, i'm seeing this person with a semi afro coming up to my face but smiling. Hallucination. She shows up periodically. No visitors. I have a phone in the room. and my cell. I'm basically sleeping the whole time...sleeping and praying and reciting prayers to myself. The room is 68degrees because i'm in the covid unit. Whoever comes in is in a mask and plastic gowns and they get rid of these as they leave. LOLOL For the record...i do not believe i had covid and if i did, i was asymptomatic. I had a dead and gangrenous gallbladder!! and it was missed for over a year by physicians. I am so thankful to God that he fixed this.

Re: The ground is shifting under Americans' feet on health care
The surgeon said to me afterward after surgery, 'you must have been having a miserable year'. I said, 'no. I had no clue and anyway, i am just the type of person who keeps pushing forward'. ( I hate being sick, i hate admitting i 'm sick) WHile in the hospital i just kept thanking God for getting me in there, doing it the way he did, that that surgeon was on duty. That it was no worse than it was.
All this time i'm still getting dilaudid for pain. Pain still in my right side and i have a drain tube in there anyway. So much pain that the surgeon orders an mri and of course, that requires the dye but they were able to put it in my veins.
I was supposed to get out on thursday but i had a 'reaction' to, they said, my antibiotic. LOL. IT was not the antibiotic. I knew little about how i was going to have to alter my eating and apparently neither did the hospital. They served me the most vile dinner on wednesday evening. It was so bad i could not stand to smell it. I ate some of it because i was hungry at this point. I'd lost about 18 pounds since jan 1 but i did not know it. few bites of turkey in mutant gravy, saharan mashed potatoes, and some other ungodly thing that i cannot remember and do not want to. I was sick for hours come 3am and i had to stay there for another day. Throwing up, sides hurting again from throwing up and dizzy. More dilaudid.
you know...when you first come into hospital they are all over you with good service but after 3 or 4 days you can tell they've lost interest and want you gone. LOLOL It was okay. I wanted to be gone.
For a few days afterwards at home i kept seeing things.... things crawling up the wall..BUT i knew it was not real so it was not disturbing to me. I also found myself talking to people not there during the night, waking myself up during the conversation. THat for some reason made me angry but i just decided to finish my sentence and go back to sleep. I can see why some people are 'driven' into dementia/pre-alzheimers after taking dilaudid. They gave me oxycontin for home. Nope. I'd had about enough of that thanks.
I had a couple little situations at this hospital during this time starting with the double covid test...but...the hospital is looking into that and will get back to me. They did today to let me know that they were on it. Especially my question about sharing my dna and if they were doing that with the 2 tests.
I asked the ombudsman that i was speaking with if she'd had a covid test ever. No. She hadn't. Why not? she's a hospital employee. Why are we forced to take these things for admittance and they are not??

Because this hospital is not owned by a large conglomerate such as sentara they may be safe for a while longer...but not much longer. By 2050 or sooner, these doctors are going to be government employees. What's going on in the UK, denying life saving care to infants and toddlers, we'll see that here too. There will be death panels but they won't call them death panels. They'll call them something really sweet and caring. Life care but behind that sweet name will be this....
Hello...i'm your government health care advisor and i'm here to help.
