Rumor: Ice Cube Exits Comedy Film ‘Oh Hell No’ Over Covid-19 Vaccine

A new rumor claims that rapper and actor Ice Cube exited the comedy ‘Oh Hell No’ after being asked to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

This rumor comes from The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit and Kim Masters.

THR claims, “Ice Cube has departed Sony’s upcoming comedy, Oh Hell No, in which he would’ve co-starred with Jack Black, after declining a request from producers to get vaccinated, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter.”

Back in June Deadline reported that the film would see Jack Black play a character named Sherman who falls in love with the mom of Ice Cube’s character, Will. Ice Cube does not approve and tells Sherman, “Oh hell no.”

The film was written by Scot Armstrong, Tracy Oliver, Jessica Gao, and Rodney Rothman. It’s being directed by Kitao Sakurai with Matt Tolmach producing.

According to THR, the Sony Pictures film did originally delay its production start due to an injury Jack Black suffered for the last episode of Conan.

The Hollywood Reporter previously claimed Letitia Wright, who plays Shuri in Marvel’s Black Panther films, was expressing anti-vaccine views on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

THR’s Tatiana Siegel, Chris Gardner, and Borys Kit claimed at the beginning of October, “A number of performers, from Rob Schneider (now shooting Netflix’s Home Team) to Letitia Wright (filming Marvel’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) have shared anti-vaccine positions on social media.”

“In Wright’s case, a set source says she has espoused similar views about the COVID-19 vaccines on the Atlanta production,” THR continued.

They also added, “The British actress quietly parted ways with her entire U.S. team of representatives in the wake of a backlash over posting a controversial anti-vaccine video in December.”

Wright responded to these claims for THR on Instagram where she shared an image of a suit of armor accompanied with a quote from Isaiah 54:17. It stated, “Weapons made to attack you won’t be successful; words spoken against you won’t hurt at all.”

Along with the image Wright wrote, “God bless you all. It saddens me to have to address he reports published by The Hollywood Reporter on October 6th 2021. The report spoke about my conduct on the set of black Panther 2. I honestly assert that this was completely untrue.”

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me, knows that I work incredibly hard at my craft & my main focus is always to do work that’s impactful and inspiring. That has been & will continue to be my only focus,” Wright asserted.

The actress added, “I will continue to hold onto Gods hands, and onto the scripture of Isaiah 54:17. I continue to focus on my healing. Thank you for your prayers. And I continue to pray for Gods love, peace & joy for you all. God bless you. Letitia.”

Covid-19 vaccine mandates have become a divisive topic in Hollywood. A rumor back in August claimed a host of actors, filmmakers, and Hollywood creatives are refusing to get vaccinated.

Producer Dallas Sonnier, who was originally supposed to film an adaptation of White Knuckle with Mandalorian actress Gina Carano, detailed that film was postponed due to vaccine mandates. He then went on to detail that instead of White Knuckle they fast-tracked a new western titled Terror on the Prairie with Samaire Armstrong, Nick Searcy, Donald Cerrone, and Gabriel-Kane Day Lewis.

He told The Daily Wire, “With the precariousness of the current Hollywood landscape and the remarkable overreach by its ruling class, we made the tough, but prudent choice to ride further out into the wild west to make movies on our own terms.”

“The Daily Wire has given Gina and our team all the support any producers could ask for. Now, we must go make them proud by producing something that is truly great.”

Carano also stated during The Daily Wire’s live event at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, “After we announced our first project this summer, the Hollywood unions started debating vaccine mandates for cast and crew, and I wasn’t into that.”

She added, “I don’t believe anybody gets to make your medical choices for you, and I’m not willing to force masks and vaccines on anyone else.”
