tell me where a revolt was succesfull that the original leadership survived while keeping his base.

I have to presume that he is pointing out that the Bolsheviks,
Ho Chi Min and Pol Pot had something in common....

You are comparing apples with pears, we are not in 1963 in some impoverished un educated country, If it had been 63 in Russia of Vietnam these people would have been gunned down and the survivors would have been rounded up executed or reeducated
