The press conference was quite open and essentially telling everyone this covid situation will never end and things will never revert to pre-covid.

Sad. Serious note: I saw the roots of this in my visit, Perth and Tasmania, in 1994.

The culture, back then, was what we (Yanks) knew of Australia. But the young people were not onboard.

The males were all about Free Schitte. The females were all about mindless sex. Jeez, the stories my ship's crew had to tell...what I saw of those teenaged girls...

I was age 35 and I wasn't given to chasing jailbait. But I saw a REAL difference, between women over thirty

(had a real nice encounter with a laundromat attendant, two blocks from the shore; I put clothes in, fed coins into the machine, and went out, and got delayed and then drunk. Stumbled into a town-council meeting at a pub...no lie. Four hours later I was back, and this redheaded thirtysomething MILF type who worked there, had taken my clothes out, dried them, and folded them! Holy sheep-shearing! If I wasn't half in the bag I'd have gotten her address and phone number...)

...but now, the twelve-year-olds of that time are now forty years old...and the culture has been overturned.

Probably the 2 worst places to visit.  Western Australia is full of half wit bogans and you need to have two heads and no teeth to call Tasmania home which is a shame because Tasmania is very beautiful.
