Re: The Birthday Thread
My husband was born exactly 3 weeks after I, our mothers gave birth in the same hospital.
I think that's kinda......foretelling?

And then, when I was 14, my mom bought the house right across the street from his house.

My daughter went off to college in MI, then on to N.C. NASCAR School; married, had kids, divorced, then remarried ...the kid of our best friends of 25+ years whose diapers I do believe she helped change once or twice.)

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
And the child that is born on the Sabbath Day,
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go.
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,

My friend, Doug, was born an hour before me in the same hospital in Southeast Dallas. We grew up 100 yards from each other in Mesquite. I'm about to move to the same town he lives in when my divorce is final.

Used to be commonplace, to know the person who became your spouse, all your life.
Could have happened with me...except that I was such a low-rent kind of catch. Seriously...I didn't have the qualities of a good provider, and my life history proves it. The girls, three of them, who were steered away or found better...did better.
But there they were. Sue, who was in my kindergarten class with me, all the way through eighth grade. We went to separate high-schools, but our families were members of the same church. Sue was no college candidate and knew it. She wanted a family. It's odd to find a teenaged girl so focused, but she was.
I met her after graduation from high school...six months later, at Christmas services. I had moved out of town, starting my life as a drudge, but I was home for the holidays. She was at the services, and she was ALL OVER ME. I don't mean physically, but...like, literally, a cat in heat.
I was blown away. I was making minimum wage (and would be for three more years) and a wife and family were the last things on my mind. I didn't handle the situation very well - off balance, not wanting to be rude, not knowing what the hell this was. So different from the rebellious Sue I knew.
She found another man, and had those kids, and later became a close adult friend of my mother. And I know she remembers, because she was absent from my mother's funeral. Her parents were there, but not she.
She didn't want to see me, I think. Bad memories.
Then, Judy. Her older brother was a close friend, but their father put down hints: Don't you DARE, not with him. Judy, like Sue, was big-sized...both of them tall and rawboned. Judy had self-esteem issues, although she didn't act out...for a time she hung out with her brother who was trying to manage a rural country airfield. She got to meet a lot of older, well-heeled men that way, who could appreciate her beauty and not worry about her five-eleven height.
But I knew Judy from when she was six.
Pam, also...brainiac. In my kindergarten class, also. Don't know what happened to her - she went to work for NASA while attending university, aerospace engineering. She's left no trace on the Web - I am sure she did that herself, she would be smart enough.
But, my point is, nothing wrong in finding family with your lifelong community.
As to birfdaze:
I'd choose not to identify. Too much of me is out on line already.
