Drew Brees Retires After 20 Seasons

15 great years with the Saints.

Drew Brees announced his retirement from the NFL on Sunday.

He made an announcement on his Instagram -- 15 years to the day he signed with the New Orleans Saints.

"After 20 years as a player in the NFL and 15 years as a Saint, it is time I retire from the game of football. Each day, I poured my heart & soul into being your Quarterback. Til the very end, I exhausted myself to give everything I had to the Saints organization, my team, and the great city of New Orleans. We shared some amazing moments together, many of which are emblazoned in our hearts and minds and will forever be a part of us. You have molded me, strengthened me, inspired me, and given me a lifetime of memories. My goal for the last 15 years was striving to give to you everything you had given to me and more," he wrote in his post.


"I am only retiring from playing football, I am not retiring from New Orleans. This is not goodbye, rather a new beginning. Now my real life‘s work begins!"

me think their training program sucks. just as soon as a wr te or rb gets going, their legs give out.

I wish him the best of luck.   I think it's sad he didn't go at least one more season though.

I'd've liked to have seen the two old fellas, him and Brady, set records no-one could ever beat like Brees winning the SB next season off the back of old man Brady.

You ought to see all the veterans and some of their best players they let go last week and the week before.  I have no idea what they are trying to do.

I think it's one of the reasons Brees decided to call it quits.

Maybe he'll do like Brady and go to another team and win a Super Bowl .
But I don't think he would consider it.

I'm sure his family is really happy but I still would have liked to see him go out on a Super Bowl win.

Yeah that can be a motivating factor for leaving, hate to play another season when they win fewer games and be a more of a struggle.

He's going to NBC.
