What is maybe bothering you is the license the writers have taken to create a sense of other-worldly danger, a subtle tweak on an ancient story now fully revealed for a sense of heightened urgency. Well done.

Question to the reincarnation nutjobs:

If you count up and roughly estimate all the people who have lived and died since time began, that number would easily be accounted for in the number of ants that have been alive during the same time, which wouldn't even touch the number of living things that have also existed. What does this mean for reincarnation?

There is less "proof" of reincarnation, a favorite whimsy found in every religion, it seems, than there is of extraterrestrial life in the universe.
