Re: On This Day in History
it was J Wilkes Booth who shot stinking from less than three feet away using his ear as the target. John Wilkes Booth was J Wilkes Booths real theatrical father.

i find it incredible that here after 60 years of lagtime, no one comes even remotely close to real slapstick comedy.

There was lots of good physical comedy up until about 75 or 80 when insurance companies refused to cover it.
Folks forget , insurance companies were the original ponzi schemes. Long before Social Security!
And guess what? They are government regulated! Mostly by state government.
What does this mean, you ask.
Lol. It doesn't mean you pay less, but more!
In a nutshell, it means the insurance company can not , nor will ever lose money in a payoff situation like a Hurricane or ice storm . Investors never lose. Just like utilities. Prolly the worst of them all!
In a real, capitalist world utilities would be allowed to absorb the cost and shareholders would bear the burden of nature with a net loss on investments. Thanks to corrupt politicians. No way.
I just quit paying a long standing charge last month on my electric bill for Katrina in 2005. WTF?
Now we have to pay for the all the other 4 or 5 hurricanes in 2020 and winter shit last year in Feb 2021.
Talking about another 15 years of extra charges.
Not to mention the extra FA(Fuel Adjustment) charges which are already at 3.5 cents/KWh now. AND MORE to come with the latest futures numbers.
If you live in a cool area and have access to unlimited firewood, I'd seriously consider cooking with wood.
I live in a hot area. But have more wood than I could ever use!
Still I miss my wood heaters and wood stove,
