Maybe it's KK.  It's not on my shopping list...

When I was a child, I ate as a child.

But when I was a man, I did away with childish foods...
oh. disregard my jungle boogie joke then.

Thanks Gentlemen for your remarks on that. I want to the Captain to see it can be done. It runs in his family so i'm on my sons all the time.

and hurricane...i believe you're absolutely correct...you can lose weight by food alone.. The exercise is only beneficial for the skin, heart, endurance which makes it a GOOD thang but as far as weight loss itself is concerned, not necessary.

You lose weight by eating less than you burn.

It's easier if you up the burn rate...you can do that with White Crosses, or you can just engage in physical activity.

I had a couple of lessons of what NOT to do - my parents.  My father, the whip-thin Army scout, who later went camping for a month in Durango and what later became Vail...did it before it was fashionable...got seduced by the soft suburban life.  He gave up mowing the lawn, passing the chore to my brother, and then most other physical chores.  His easy chair and stereo system called him.  He grew fat, and then developed sleep apnea, and then lived miserably from about age 65 or so.

My mother was never athletic.  Well, not since her college years - she was on the equestrian team.  But gave up the physical life.

All was well, until she got...essentially, about the age I am now.  I remember the work in relocating to Ohio, starting working with Conrail.  I had to move out of Colorado, with all my gear...with a Ewe-Hall.   I didn't have a car - sold it, since my previous job had me traveling and using the company truck.  With my three team members - I was the Driver-Mechanic.

So.  My father had just gone into a nursing home.  His ten-year-old minivan was unused...it was deemed fitting that I buy it for $2000 (good price) and make it my work truck.  Transferring the title, was a job.  My father couldn't sign the transfer - he had had a stroke and his right arm paralyzed.  My mother had power-of-attorney, but all this took several trips to the DMV.

She was 69.  She could not stand in the line the time required.  I went down the hall to an empty courtroom adjacent to the DMV office, and liberated a folding chair for her.  Thereafter, I made sure anytime we went someplace where there might be a line, I had a folding canvas chair for her.

Well, I'm now 67, and until I broke my hip, I could stand in lines all day.  I could walk across town, city limit to city limit, eight miles.

We'll see how I heal up, now.

But, to the point...eating well and having appropriate body weight is a key part of good health, but there are other aspects.
