Society breaks down.
There is nothing new under the sun. Back in the 1960s, tourists in Yellowstone and Glacier, all city-slickers, would feed grizzlies various road-treats through car windows. Stop on the road, and hand the stuff out.
Bears liked it. They didn't like it when the flatland touristers ran OUT of goodies to give. People were hurt that way, and car windows broken.
And this guy, and his woman, were both drunk. That's a new thing - motor-touring Yellowstone while intoxicated. Used to be, either the tourist waited until he makes camp, or he just would stay in his neighborhood when going on a road-party.
Back in 2019, the fall before the Great Coof...I did one final cross-country motorcycle trip. To Ohio and New York, aboard my big Honda tourer of the time (since sold).
I stopped one night at a little roadside motel in Old Forge NY, a charming village in the Adirondack Park that I knew well as a child. It being late September, before hunting but after summer tourism, I had the place almost all to myself.
In the morning, there was a doe standing by my bike, eyeing me. In anticipation. No, I was not, repeat NOT going to feed wildlife. I went to the office for a cup of FREE COFFEE - and mentioned it to the manager.
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, that deer's gotten spoiled. Guests feed her stuff morning and night. Another deer, a small doe, attacked a little girl when she ran out of stuff to feed her, and wound up in hospital with a deep gash to the abdomen."
Wild animals can be beautiful, but they are WILD ANIMALS.
