Whose idea it was, his or someone else's, I don't know. It was reasonably clever, but that was before the self-stopping lawnmowers with those squeeze-bails.

Even so, the weight of the handles might not make it work right. You'd almost have to remove the handle, or find a way to fold it or center it, for things to go as intended.
