KATC , Lafayette
I was watching KATC, Lafayette local news just now .
It seems a guy was riding his 4-wheeler on the side of the road on his own property, just outside of the highway right -of-way and he hit a deer which threw him into the highway and he was run over.
Lord , humans 10,000 to one .
Deer, 1-0

Accidents are almost-always a culmination of unlikely circumstances. Even the Titanic...if it wasn't that the ship was on its maiden voyage, Captain Smith wouldn't have cared so much about the schedule. If it hadn't been for the coal-bunker fire (yes, there was one), also, Smith wouldn't have been in such a sweat to make New York, and not-coincidentally, use up the coal out of that bunker.
If it hadn't been that the Marconi operator was overstressed with VIP passengers with messages, he wouldn't have popped off on the telegraph to the California radio operator. That operator was trying to warn Titanic of icebergs; and after told SHUT UP he just switched off his set and retired for the night, a few miles from where the Titanic would founder.
And if the lookout hadn't called for the iceberg, Titanic would have hit it head on - and probably survived.
ALL those things came together to make a disaster; and that's typical of disasters. Coulda-woulda-shoulda.
We don't know the aggrievating circumstances here. Had the deer lost its natural fear of humans? Maybe someone had been feeding it. How did he wind up flying, and not underneath the deer?
Was he charging the deer? We'll never know.
