So the UAW's done it.
A novel way, this time. Instead of picking one target company; they've picked selected plants from all three major US (or formerly US) manufacturers. So no company is completely immobilized, and all three feel the pain.
Who do you feel for? The UAW, the Woketard Ford family...Government Motors, with their AA CEO? Or Stellantis, which is a Belgian company composed of Citroen, the ruins of FIAT, which include what's left (precious little) of what was once Chrysler and American Motors?
Globalists, Woketards, Government neo-fascists...or, the pro-Communist, Circle-D union stooges?
Who do I pick? None of the above. They deserve to crash and burn together, for their attempts to, variously, crony-ize the auto industry; export the auto business to low-wage places like China; their rank-and-file's attempt to extort a MUCH higher living, aways, than automobile-companies' customers;' and their support of the lawless DemocRats and the brain-dead pResident.
Let them all collapse - go broke and go jobless, together. We cannot repair and rebuild until the rotten social-welfare-Wokeidiocy structure, built on the New (raw) Deal, is finally imploded to burn in what was the cellar.

I don't need a new car. I'd buy a Texas Toyota built by non union workers if I had to. I kind of wish I did last time.

Re: ON STRIKE!
Althrough obamanations regime i would not purchase a car. But if i did purchase one it would be one of the older ones so that i could work on it myself...well....the men in the family could work on it. UNfortunately that socialist lying bastard obama made sure the used car industry took a terrible beating. not too many of those left.

Interesting sidebar thought here: With the insurance payout for my wrecked truck and RV...needing a car, I got a mini-mini Toyota (branded a Scion) in Spokane. No sooner did I do the deal, than a small Toyota pickup popped up in town. Doesn't it always happen that way? Thing is, each of those cars were under $8k (which is cheap, now - blows my mind) so I have BOTH. The cost of the two together was far less than the insurance payout.
The Scion iQ is phenomenal on gas, and a 2012 - not really an overly-chipped Smart car. The Tacoma truck is a 2000 - belonged to an old guy in Kalispell. His family beat it up for a short time (it had been really well-cared for until recently, it was obvious) and then sold it.
I need the truck for the motorcycles, and because it's built like a tank - even though it's small. Manual shift, and power nothing. I want/need the Scion because it gets 40 mpg and it's a comfortable fit. Not all these new cars are, now.
One of these will be put away for the winter. Because I won't be driving much in the winter and because they use salt on the roads now, even in Montana. I'm torn up as to which one I should make into my Winter Car. The truck is much more solid, but it's also irreplaceable.

If they get a 40% pay rise you may not be able to afford to buy one lol

My understanding is, Toyota's San Antonio plant is non-union.
Toyota offers its wage package - which is reported, by hostile media, as $14.95 an hour. I'm sure this does NOT include medical and pension benefits, which push the value and cost far up.
The American plants of foreign operators have had interesting experiences. The first major stab, came from Volkswagen, where they opened a plant in Westmoreland, PA - and allowed, encouraged, UAW organization. Plant on-site management was poached from General Motors. And the quality of the Rabbit (Golf) cars coming out of the plant, was, ABYSMAL. Both material (American sourced) and workmanship (UAW) as well as color schemes and local decisions, regarding suspension mods...turned the German Golf into a squishy, rattly, problem-laden, quickly-rusting POS. It got to where when VW wanted to do special hot-rod models, they sourced them from Wolfsburg, not Westmoreland.
Seventeen years went by, as well as a redesign of the Golf (now called that in the US) and still the products were crap, and customers disgusted. Finally VW pulled the plug, and sourced American cars, for some years, from Puebla, Mexico. They were made better, if you can imagine that.
Toyota didn't do well with their joint project at New United Motor Manufacturing Company - done with GM. That plant and products lost money for everyone, GM and Toyota both. Toyota moved its US Matrix production to Canada - and the badge-engineered Pontiac Vibe continued to cost Pontiac money with every sale. That plant is now a Tesla property.
Currently, VW has a NON-union plant in South Carolina. Toyota has a NON-union plant in San Antonio. Last I heard, Nissan was still running their NON-union plant in Tennesee.
Diamand-Star Motors, a Mitsubishi-Chrysler joint operation in Normal, Illinois, was unionized - yup, it lost Mitsubishi money; and Chrysler, owned by Daimler-Benz at the time, closed IT down.
So maybe there's something to be learned, here.
