I had a pretty dim view of cats at one time, but then I adopted two -- a calico and a manx. I grew very fond of both, and I now have a very positive attitude toward all cats.
The manx was almost like a dog in attitude. I wouldn't hesitate to adopt another if the circumstances were right.
