My half sister is dying

The ventilator will be removed tomorrow. COPD and RSV left her with no lungs. She was at home being cared for by her not so bright husband. He wanted to get high on mushrooms. He knew he could not control his bowels when high so put on a diaper. When he was cognizant, his diaper was full, the low oxygen alarm was screaming and his wife wasn't breathing. While he was high, her oxygen ran out. No idea how long she had not been breathing. Emergency got her on a ventilator and she went into to seizures. Basically it's all over.

According to what passes for the law, husband did nothing wrong. Psychedelic mushrooms are completely legal in Colorado. He just has to live with what he did. I'm not going to the funeral. The rest of the half sisters and myself are pitching in to pay expenses for her son and his family to go. I didn't meet any of them until I was 50. I still care.

I'm sorry about your sister. I'm sure it hits harder when it's someone in YOUR generation. I'd be hoping that the worthless husband went broke paying for funeral expenses.

The worthless husband will have to face his step son. I don't think it will be pretty.

These kinds of actions make me ponder the worth of some so-called, human beings.

According to our brother, there was really nothing that could save her life. Just delay the inevitable. It was a matter of time, but to get high, because it's legal, and miss the low oxygen warning is just beyond the irresponsibility pale.

She's gone. Through the marvels of electronics everyone was at her bedside. Like 20 of us. Physically it was her husband, son and brother. The rest of us were scattered from west coast to east coast. All present by video.
