Archie just had a siezure...0135 1/2/2023 Empty Archie just had a siezure...0135 1/2/2023

My wife screamed and I ran into her bedroom and Archie was drooling at the mouth and shaking. I kept her door closed and he ran around just for a second and then stopped . His back feet were flat on the floor and at right angles to his body, like doing the splits. His eyes were maximum dilated.

I talked calming and softly to him, then approached and started petting him. He could see, but his eyes were dilated to max.

After talking and petting him, his eyes started to shrink back down, and he looked normal. Now he is behaving normally and just wandering around the house looking for Sonny and eating. This is what he normally does.

Looks like his behavior might be something else.

A few times in the past, he would run around the house like he was following some kind of spirit only he could see and meowing at it as it floated around the house.

Don't know what to make of this.

Poor thing  Sad

If he's the one who has been aggressive it sounds like it was a symptom of something else. Sad

Sure does. I hope when the FELIWAY gets here it will help. I am going to plug 2 in the living room and one in the master bedroom where he sleeps with Liz.

PS...you were so right about staying here on your website. Lots of good people here.

Thanks, we all have our quirks lol but there are lots of good people here.  Just don't overdo the Feliway though.  It's great and calming but you have to use it correctly and don't actually get it on the cat.

Don't know what to make of this.

The Cat Experts advice is to take it to a vet.
Perhaps the aggressive behaviour and seizure are linked.
Sometimes animals and humans know when they are seriously unwell and get angry.

Yes.  I don't want to be gaffed off like the local vet did with my little friend, Marmalade.  They ignored his symptoms and gave him ineffective meds and he died.  I was with my little friend for 17 years.

When I went to inquire and see his record, they refused and then banned me from ever setting foot on their property.

OK, then...so I filed a complaint with the state governing board.  The investigator told me they ban people all the time when they question what they did or want to see the pets record.  He also said abusive vets are so common here, it will take about a year for Marmalade's case to go through the system.  I am patient.

I did the first step.

If I get no resolution, then I have several more steps to go.  Including pushing for legislation called " Marmalade's Law " making it a criminal act to not allow you to see your pet's records on demand.  I say on demand, because so many of them go back and falsify the reports.

At this point I do not trust vets in any way.

Some form of epilepsy? No idea. Hope he stays well!

I would probably get another vet.

Do cockatoos make good pets? Are they expensive? They are very funny.
