Euthanasia by choice is one thing; an OFFER of it - especially from your gov't - is HORRRIFIC.

On Friday, Prime minister Justin Trudeau called the report of what happened to Gauthier "absolutely unacceptable" and said the government took action the moment it heard of other cases. 

"We are following up with investigations and we are changing protocols to ensure what should seem obvious to all of us: that it is not the place of Veterans Affairs Canada, who are supposed to be there to support those people who stepped up to serve their country, to offer them medical assistance in dying."

Veterans Minister Lawrence MacAulay revealed last week in testimony before the same committee that four — perhaps five — cases of Canadian military veterans being given the MAID option by a now-suspended veterans service agent have been referred to the RCMP.

"We remain confident that this is all related to one single employee, and it's not a widespread or a systemic issue," MacAulay told the committee last week.

As much as I can't stand Trudeau I can't blame him for this.  It was the fault of a stupid Veterans Affairs employee who has since been sacked.  

It was a disgraceful thing to say but you get idiots like this in all levels of business.  She (it was a female employee) was obviously a kook.

It was an overzealous employee who should rightly be sacked. I'm not against voluntary euthanasia but I'm against individual nutjobs from government departments suggesting or encouraging it.

I had to take the ex to a palliative care unit at a very small local community hospital recently just to see what services they could offer re domestic help etc. He's only been receiving treatment for a few months and it's going exceptionally well.

The nurse started asking questions like "if you have a stroke during treatment do you want to be revived?" and "do you want to spend your last days in the palliative ward here?"

It's early days yet and apart from upsetting him at a time he should be staying positive I thought it was uncalled for and premature to be asking such things. I wasn't impressed at all.
