Dem state senate minority leader faces suit from father of dead child

MY GOSH if this were one of us we'd STILL BE IN JAIL.  The woman Bewley was on the phone in her car attempting to turn and hit a car which ran into the other car killing the child.   SHE"S STILL FREE!!!   On top of THAT...she had just had eye surgery...and WAS DRIVING.

Bewley is a proponent of killing the unborn....she's moved up to 5 year olds.

Janet Bewley, 70, minority leader in the state Senate, was reportedly doing a phone interview with a newspaper reporter at the time of the crash Friday afternoon.

A statement from the police in Ashland said Bewley was attempting to make a left turn out of a picnic area at a Lake Superior beach into the eastbound lanes of a four-lane highway. As she pulled out, she collided with a westbound car. “That vehicle then spun across the highway and was struck by an eastbound vehicle,” the police said.

Killed were the westbound car’s driver, Alyssa Ortman, 27, of Clearfield, Penn., and her 5-year-old daughter.

The media describes this as “involved in an accident”. But the media was very involved.

SEVENTY FREAKIN" YEARS OLD...She should KNOW BETTER..and if she doesn't then she should not be a state senator for Cryingoutloud.

Actually, CJ, it was the people in the car Bewley first hit who died. Nevertheless, this is HORRIFIC!
You're darned right that, at 70, she knew better. But, going through life as privileged as she no doubt has, you learn that the laws don't apply to you; not even the laws of physics. Bitch!

I blame law enforcement and society nearly as much as I do her. Okay, maybe not that much. Still, might help if we quit TREATING these people like they're royalty.

As an aside, driving boo-coos of miles back and forth to work, you get to see quite a bit of 'close calls.' 9 times out of 10, it's these elderly people with those black wrap-around sunglasses on. They think that if they only turn on the turn signal, then it' safe to pull into another lane.
