BIDEN Waiving Ethanol Rule

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden is visiting corn-rich Iowa on Tuesday to announce he'll suspend a federal rule preventing the sale of higher ethanol blend gasoline this summer, as his administration tries to tamp down prices at the pump that have spiked during Russia’s war with Ukraine.

Most gasoline sold in the U.S. is blended with 10% ethanol. The Environmental Protection Agency will issue an emergency waiver to allow widespread sale of 15% ethanol blend that is usually prohibited between June 1 and Sept. 15 because of concerns that it adds to smog in high temperatures.

Senior Biden administration officials said the move will save drivers an average of 10 cents per gallon at 2,300 gas stations. Those stations are mostly in the Midwest and the South, including Texas, according to industry groups.

The move comes as Biden is facing growing political pressure over inflation, as new data Tuesday showed prices are rising at the fastest pace in more than 40 years, driven in part by soaring energy prices during the Russia-Ukraine war. The Labor Department said Tuesday that its consumer price index jumped 8.5% in March from 12 months earlier, the biggest year-over-year increase since December 1981.

Just what we need! More shitty ethanol in our fuel and shitty gas mileage, and more water afinnity hose and rubber eating crap in the fuel to eat up our small engines.

How the f@ck are they going to meet ethanol demand when corn farmers can't secure or afford adequate fertilizer?

yet condensate at the well head is forbidden to be used as motor fuel.

The point here is to destroy our personal mobility. Cant fly without Real ID, Vaxx Passports, Face Diapers, and a body-cavity search.

Can't ride Amtrak without Face Diapers...and I expect the loud blacks who basically are all they hire, now, are not-so-pleasant with those damn things on their face, all day, every day, three days

(the non-operating staff, that is, passenger attendants, cooks, housekeepers...travel with the train, usually the whole way. On in New Jersey or Boston, off in Chicago. Or, Chicago to Seattle or the Bay Area. Or Los Angeles, I don't know if they still serve there. They used to break the train in half, half going to Oakland, the other to LA. They'd separate the train in Idaho, IIRC.)

Sorry, guys.  I lost my train of thought.  Corn is used in so MANY products, and there are so many different TYPES of corn - milo, dent, maze...they make all kinds of foods, and fabrics; all generally used each for its own purpose, so I'm unsure of how using MORE corn is going to affect the corn industry, trying to use more for fuel than feeding animals.
Will more acres be used in place of animal feed?  Or will farmers choose to grow fuel-type corn in place of human consumption type corn?

And how will their choices affect the consumers on down the chain, not to mention everyone's 401K plan?  ???
